In Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has over 2500 Pharma Companies and is home to few of the Top Pharma Companies ,

 Like : Dr. Reddy's Laboratories , Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals , Mylan , Novartis , Nicholas Piramal , Divi Labs , NAT CO Pharma , Gland Pharmaceuticals , etc.

There are more than 200  Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) units in the state . 

Which are poised to grow at a rate of 10-15% annually in the Comming Days .

What is API ?

It is a main Raw material that is used to make medicine or Vaccine.

Evolution and Growth Of Pharma Industry in Hyderabad  :

Hyderabad has grown into a Pharma Hub for Bulk Drugs basically for  Two Reasons :

Firstly , due to establishment of  Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd. ( IDPL) and  Secondly , due to the Enterprising nature of it's people and availability of adequate talent pool in the State .

IDPL : It is a Gov. Company . It built under the guidance of Former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru .

This company was Created to make all the medicines and Vaccine's in India ..and so that India is Self- Sufficient . At first all medicine in India were made by IDPL . But gradually many private Companies were mainly started ,by people working in IDPL , after retirement . These Private company needed Raw material , API , Chemical  to make medicine . 

To supply , these type of material , Small Business companies were formed . Which supply these companies .

As a result , the number of private Companies grew day by day and the supply chain grew. 

But on the other hand , the market share of IDPL began to decline . Currently , the situation of IDPL is very critical .

 ...So this is one of the reasons that helped Hyderabad to become a Pharma Capital Of India .

On the other hand ,another reason is that the people here have worked very hard and a lot of good entrepreneurs have come out of there who have grow their companies . 

In the present situation , Telangana government put a lot emphasis and making new scheme. The government has not imposed heavy taxes on these companies which has helped them grow business.

: Hyderabad Pharma City :

Hyderabad Pharma City is a Pharmaceuticals industrial Park being established near Hyderabad , India. The park is being set up on 19, 3330 acres .

It is expected to a attract Rs/- 64000 crore investment and direct employment to 1,70,000 people and indirect employment around 6,00,000 people .

In December 2019 The government of India Granted National Investment Manufacturing Zone .
